Note 3. Operation at high input voltages is dependent upon load current. When   load current is less than 5mA, output will rise out of regulation as input-   oiutput differential icreases beyond 30V. Note also from Figure 1, that   maximum load current is reduced at high voltages. The 50V input rating   of the SG140A series refers to ability to withstnd high line or transient   conditions without damage. Since the regulator's maximum current   capability is reduced, the output may fall out of regulation at high input   voltages under nominal loading.
Unless otherwise stated, VDD = 3.3V 10%, no load on any output, and ambient temperature range TA = 0C to 70C. Parameters denoted with an asterisk ( * ) represent nominal characterization data and are not production tested to any specific limits. Where given, MIN and MAX characterization data are 3 f rom typical. Negative currents indicate current flows out of the device.
The M5201AFP and M5201AFP are single-channel, negative- voltage hot swap controllers designed to address the need for safe insertion and removal of circuit boards into live system backplanes, while using few external components. The M5201AFP/89R and the M5201AFP/95R are each available in 14-pin SOIC packaging and work in conjunction with an external N-Channel MOSFET for which the gate drive is controlled to provide inrush current limiting and output volt- age slew-rate control. Overcurrent fault protection is also provided for which the overcurrent threshold and the overcurrent duration are programmable. Very fast fault re- sponse is provided to ensure that system power supplies maintain regulation even during output short circuits. This family offers two responses to a circuit breaker fault condition: the M5201AFP and M5201AFP latch the circuit breakers output off if the overcurrent threshold interval is exceeded while the M5201AFPR and M5201AFPR automatically attempt to restart at a fixed duty cycle after a current limit fault. A primary Power-Good signal and two secondary (delayed and stag- gered) Power-Good signals are provided to indicate that the output voltage of the inrush current limiter is within its valid operating range. These signals can be used to perform an all- at-once or a sequenced enabling of one or more DC-DC power modules. All support documentation can be found on Micrels web site at www.micrel.com.
